Netflix chief: DVD business to peak in 5 years

May 28, 2008

Online movie rental company Netflix said it signed agreements with CBS and Walt Disney's Disney Channel that will allow current season episodes of a number of TV shows to be streamed at Netflix.

Netflix subscribers will be able to watch television shows including CBS's CSI and NCIS and the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place over the Internet.

The agreements with CBS and Disney Channel also add older TV shows such as Star Trek, MacGyver, and Family Ties to the library of choices that can be streamed on Netflix, the company said.

The online DVD rental pioneer said members can watch the shows on their PCs and TVs as part of their existing subscription plans and without affecting the number of DVDs they receive.
